  • A long time coming....

I don't have to worry about getting laid off now. It has happened. The foreigners in India and Manilla now have my job along with the rest of my department. I hope they enjoy it. My friends were thrown on the fire 2 months ago and now the rest of us. That's what happens when you send jobs overseas, you hurt people in your own country, all in the name of greed. I'm so done with worry and stress all about a stupid job.

The next chapter in my life can begin now. Don't know what it will be. Maybe I will just be a beach bum....

  • I'm still alive.

It is cold today. Buck Owens is singing in the background. (Old Hee Haw is on TV). The dog is barking at me again. He wants more Hamburger Hotdish!! Who can resist him?

Today I spent the morning playing games on Facebook and Myspace. They are such time wasters, but I'm hooked on them.

Then we went to Walgreens to pick up one of my medications. On to the dog park. We saw an alligator in the pond there. Even Smokey didn't want to stay long.

Last week a certain someone moved an office chair right outside my bedroom and I rammed my pinkie toe into it really hard. I thought it was broken but I am not in such bad pain today so it must not be. I could even get my shoe on.

The cheapskates at work have decided to provide us with a "lavish Christmas lunch". Cold sandwiches and bring your own side dishes. I am insulted. I know I'm being a real sorehead, but it is what it is. Other departments are getting a catered lunch from Olive Garden. Another year with no bonus or raise. Another year with no Christmas gifts or seeing family! This company is doing well, hundreds of millions in profits last quarter. It has no heart. They couldn't care less about their workers. Yes, I am bitter and I'm trying to work on that.

It's been a year since Dade had a job and made any money. It is hard to carry the whole load of breadwinning. Some good has come out of it though. I am stronger. I can survive with less. I can survive without McDonald's every morning. It's amazing how much money I used to blow on just nothing. I have exactly $1.07 to last until Christmas. I've learned that I don't have to spend any money at all. I've spent whole weeks without spending a cent. Bad times don't last. My day will come. I have learned to be patient.

With no money to spend, it forces one to focus on the real meaning of Christmas. It is not about BUY, BUY, BUY. Or fighting in stores over things. Or being tired and crabby with other tired and crabby people. It is about love. Love of God and love of people. Plain and simple. Why do we feel the need to load it down with so much crap? Stress and worry is the modern day Christmas meaning. I have Christmas inside of me and it is so beautiful and fulfilling. More people die on Christmas day than any other according to Dr. Oz. More people are depressed because all of the BUY, BUY, BUYING does not bring us love or happiness. My mother died right before Christmas. That was hard to take. She spent Christmas in heaven that year.

I don't know how to end this rant. I usually don't like to blog when I'm in such a mood. So long for now.

  • Dust dust everywhere

We are deep cleaning our living room today. Actually we started yesterday by taking our old nasty couch that the dog enjoyed sleeping on and a console tv that needed fixing out of our house. The couch is awaiting the garbag man and someone picked up the tv. I have been nagging Dade for months to get rid of these two eyesores.

Today we are moving around the furniture and vacuuming and dusting. I can't believe how much dust was behind and under everything. It hasn't been more than 3 or 4 months since I did this. I'm hoping to get rid of a few more eyesores in the living room today. Our living room was looking more like a warehouse than a home.

Yesterday we had a very enjoyable lunch. We found an Italian buffet in Sarasota called Bella Cucina that is absolutely out of this world. It is not the cheap Italian food but really really good stuff. It included some fancy salads and even desserts included. We will be going back again soon. www.italianbuffet.com

    Back to dusting again...

  • Autumn is here already.

This year is going by so quickly. The Halloween decorations are already out here. There is a big cold front coming to most of the country...except Florida. It is still in the 90's here. The cooler weather is coming if I can just hold out a few more weeks.

Last weekend we went to Casey Key south of Sarasota. In the little channel behind the beach I saw a dolphin jump out of the water. How majestic. I thought they only did that in Seaworld. I love to see dolphins. Dade took several pictures of the park and dolphin and he downloaded them today. Apparently his camera settings were all messed up because they are all white.

I have the rest of the week off from work and just don't know what to do with myself. If Dade was working I would take a trip, but he still is out of work and extremely depressed. I really don't like seeing him like this. A man really does need to work.

Dade has relatives coming to the USA from Indonesia next month. They may be staying at our house. We will be clearing out the clutter and dust (high time) for their visit. I guess I will start tomorrow on this project.
